Presentation

We have the pleasure of announcing the first edition of the workshop "Three days of Quarkonium Production in pp and pA collisions", which will be held in Ecole polytechnique (Palaiseau, France) from Thursday July 29 to Saturday July 31 2010.

This worskhop, gathering both experimentalists and theorists, aims at finding answers to the numerous quarkonium-hadroproduction puzzles at the dawn of the LHC era and the concurrent apogee of the Tevatron and RHIC. It will take place right after the major international conference ICHEP (International Conference on High Energy Physics) in Paris from 22 till 28 July 2010, where the results of the first analyses of LHC data on quarkonium production in pp will be presented.

This workshop will consist on the one hand, of introductory and review talks focusing upon recent theoretical and experimental results. In addition, we plan to have six 2 1/2-hour topical discussion sessions devoted to specific issues, such as:

- WG1: Quarkonium production in p+p
- WG2: Cold Nuclear Matter effects in p+A
- WG3: Polarisation and Feed downs
- WG4: Open Heavy Flavour (vs hidden)
- WG5: Quarkonium (production) as a tool
- WG6: New Observables in Quarkonium production

The discussion sessions will be prepared and chaired by a pair consisting of one experimentalist and one theorist. Interested participants are encouraged to provide inputs for discussions before the workshop.
