Internship: Schwinger-Keldysh effective action for hydrodynamic diffusion
Level: Second year of Master in Theoretical Physics (non-negotiable)
Duration: 2 months, extensions for a longer duration can be discussed. Start date flexible (Winter-Spring 2021). No possibility to continue on a PhD.
Topic: In this internship, the student will have the opportunity to read and understand the recently-developed Schwinger-Keldysh formalism for effective actions capturing hydrodynamic diffusive modes. Time permitting, more advanced topics that can also be broached are hydrodynamic fluctuations, long time tails, and the holographic construction of such actions using Gauge-Gravity duality.
