"Electronic structure of nickelate superconductors"

The recent discovery of superconductivity in infinite-layer and bilayer nickelates has attracted significant attention. In this seminar, after briefly outlining the key differences between these two classes of nickelates, we will focus primarily on the electronic structure of infinite-layer nickelates, (R,Sr)NiO₂ (R = La, Nd) [1]. In particular, we will examine the similarities and shared features between nickelates and cuprates [2], and discuss the essential degrees of freedom relevant to superconductivity. We also disentangle the correlation effects in the multiband electronic structure of infinite-layer nickelates by comparing theoretical and experimental results for transport properties (Hall and Seebeck coefficients) [3].
